SCRIPT
ANALYSIS

Learn how to break down a script and scenes to help inform your vision and/or character. Discover text ‘clues’ to lead you to a more robust world, design-vision, staging and/or blocking, and a sense of character and their development. Objective, motivation, beats, tactics, verbing, and more! (If these terms don’t make sense – this is the class for you!) Ideal for theatre or film actors and directors at all stages of their career!

DIRECTING
FOUNDATIONS

+ Sunday, July 24 | 2PM - 4PM (audition session)

Instructor: Elana Bizovie

Work through the foundational steps of theatre directing, including choosing the right script and team, creating and communicating your vision, pre-production prep, running rehearsals, directing actors, and preparing for performance. This class includes an audition session, casting, and presentation of a short scene to the rest of the class. Ideal for aspiring and emerging theatre directors, or more experienced directors looking for a foundational review.

Note: audit for a fee of $125 to observe the class, but not participate in presenting scenes or receiving feedback

How do you cast the best actors for your piece and then communicate what you want to see in a way that they can understand and work with? Explore tools and best practices that will help you become an ‘actors director’ and end up with a quality theatre or film product that represents your vision. This workshop includes both discussion and practical work that allows each participant to work with local actors, putting what they’ve learned into practice, complete with compassionate and constructive feedback.
